Government has notified the Finance Act, 2022 on 31st March 2022 after the same received the assent of the President of India on 30th March, 2022.
The Finance Bill, 2022 received the assent of the President on March 30, 2022 and became the Finance Act. The Ministry of Law and Justice notified the Finance Act, 2022 vide a Notification dated 30.03.2022.
Finance Act, 2022 is notified to give effect to the financial proposals of the Central Government for the financial year 2022-2023 that was introduced in Loksabha on February 1, 2022 and passed on March 25, 2022.
Finance minister introduced the Finance Bill, 2022 on 1st February 2022 Loksabha passed the Bill on 25.03.2022.
39 government amendments were introduced in the Finance Bill, 2022 when the same was passed in the Loksabha on 25th March 2022 compared to the original Finance Bill, 2022 as introduced in the Loksabha on 1st Feb.,2022.
The salient provisions of the Finance Act, 2022 are-
● Introduction of taxation of crypto assets
● Introduction of furnishing Updated Returns
● Amendment related to Charitable Trusts and other institutions
● Retrospective amendment related to disallowance of cess
● Exemption for COVID-19 exgratia amount received
● Carry forward and set off of loss benefit to Air India
● Revamped Faceless Assessment
● Amendment related to penalties and prosecution
